Word Art Wednesday #59
It's the Wednesday before Christmas so today we have some word art for the season...

Our Christmas morning begins with prayer and a reading from the Book of Luke. It's the first thing we do... before any stockings are checked or any gifts are opened. It's a tradition that we started when the kids were very young. Now that they are older, they do the reading. I believe that starting the day this way keeps the real meaning of Christmas at the forefront of our minds. It's not about what is or isn't under the tree, it's about the greatest gift of all...Jesus!!
The challenge sponsor for this week is Daydream Designs Digital Stamps. If you're not familiar with their designs, stop by and check them out. They have some wonderful digi images. I used 2 of the images from their Little Bits of Christmas collection on my layout today. I love that this collection is available in color, perfect for scrapbookers that aren't into hand coloring images.
Supplies:
Paper Studio Patterned Paper
Daydream Designs Digi Stamps
Cardstock
Baker's Twine, Button

A Sketch With a Twist
I really need to work on my summer vacation album but needed some motivation. I decided to check out the Sketch With a Twist Challenge at MFPSpeedy TV and this week's sketch was a CAS one, great for a quick layout.
Here's the basic sketch...
And the twist is to include a food or drink item.
I used some dinner photos from our vacation for the sketch challenge...
Of course, I took more than 3 photos of our dinner in this 50's inspired restautant :), so I had to add another page to my layout for the album. Here's the 2 page spread...
Supplies:
American Crafts Patterned Paper
Mr Huey's Mists
American Traditionals Sticker
American Crafts Journaling Sticker
Our Daily Bread Designs Stamp
Jenni Bowlin Alphabet Stickers
K&Co. Gems
Thanks for stopping by. Blessings!

Word Art Wednesday #58
Hello everyone! We are so blessed here at Word Art Wednesday!!! We normally have one prize sponsor for our challenges (except for the first Wednesday of the month), but this week we have two! In addition to Detailed 4 You, which is today's regular sponsor, we have a second sponsor!! Cynthia Millan of Stampin' Up has offered one blessed winner TWO stamp sets (Come to Bethlehem and Crosses of Hope).
Now, on to this week's word art. Today's word comes from the book of Philippians...
Today's scripture is often taken out of context. True, God will provide all our needs, but it's not like he's waving around a blank check providing for the needs of any and everyone that asks. God expects some things from us in order to receive His provision. We must believe and have faith. One way to show our faith is through giving to others. We we give away a portion of what we have, we express faith that we will still have enough. When we give, we show God that we take Him at his word... that he will provide. So now, during this season of giving, why not step out on faith and give a little extra to someone in need. Giving doesn't always have to be something material...you can give of your time and your talents as well. Offer your neighbor that doesn't have a car a ride to the mall to do some Christmas shopping, sing carols at the senior center and spread some Christmas joy, donate some hats and gloves to your local homeless shelter...believe, God will provide, and you will be blessed.
For my layout I used an old photo of a friend of my maternal grandmother. I was so excited to receive my grandmother's photo album when my Mom passed away. These old pictures provided me a window into my mom's childhood. My mother grew up in Mississippi in the 1930's. While they lacked lots of material things, they didn't lack faith in God. I can't begin to imagine what it was like for them living in that place, at that time, but I do know that they believed and fully relied on God and He provided all their needs.
Supplies:
Sei Patterned Paper
Spellbinders Die
Gems, Ribbon, Lace
Colorbox Chalk Ink

Word Art Wednesday #57
Wow, it's December already! The year is almost over, time seems to fly these days. It's the first Wednesday of December so it's Word Art Wednesday Double Sponsor Day. That means you have two chances to win a prize from our awesome sponsors.
Today's word art comes from the Book of Deuteronomy...
Isn't God's word always right on time?! During the Christmas season we sometimes get caught up in the spirit of giving. We want to give our loved ones the perfect gift, the desires of their heart. There's certainly nothing wrong with that, but we must be very mindful of not spending beyond our means. God tells us to bless others, but He also tells us to give as we are able, according to what He has blessed us with. And that's not just material blessings, it's spiritual things as well. A heartfelt smile, a kind word, a prayer, can go a long way in brightening someone's day. God has blessed each one of us with special talents, why not use them to bless others. The best gifts are often not the most expensive or the prettiest, but the ones that come from the heart.
The photo on my layout today was taken on Christmas Day 2010. Tim had just opened his gift from TJ ... a bright blue mug that said "World's Greatest Dad". Was this at the top of Tim's wish list...probably not. But because it reflected how TJ felt, he had obtained it himself, and it was given in love, it was the greatest gift. It was priceless!
Supplies:
My Minds Eye Patterned Paper
Bazzill & Autumn Leaves Cardstock
Making Memories Button
Queen & Co. Gems
May Arts Ribbon (available at Really Reasonable Ribbon)

Word Art Wednesday #56
Happy Wednesday!! Today's word art is from the Book of Psalms...
Last week, in the US, we celebrated Thanksgiving. It's a day that everyone "gives thanks" and "counts their blessings". Who is the source of all these blessings we're counting? Definately not you or me. All that we are and all that we have comes from the Lord. He is the ultimate source. Without Him, we have nothing. So when we are giving thanks, first and foremost, we should be giving thanks to God. God is good...all the time!!! We shouldn't have to wait for a man made holiday to tell us to be thankful, let us thank him always!!
Today's scripture was one of my mother's favorites. Although she went to be with the Lord 11 years ago, in my head I can still hear her reciting it...
She is really missed at our Thanksgiving table...
Supplies:
WeR Memory Keepers Patterned Paper
WeR Memory Keepers Brads
Ki Memories Stickers
Tim Holtz Distress Ink

Word Art Wednesday #55
It's Word Art Wednesday! This week's word art comes from the Book of Psalms...
I am so thankful that God is the head of my life. I am thankful for His goodness, grace, and mercy and I will praise Him at all times. In season and out of season, in good times and bad, in every situation, I will give Him praise.
For today's layout, I used a picture of myself at an information fair for women, working the table for my church's women's ministry. We had a great time that evening, meeting other women, sharing the good news with them, and praising God.
Supplies:
Prima Patterned Paper
Basic Grey & Paper Studio Gems

Word Art Wednesday #54
Happy Wednesday!!! It's time for this week's word art. Our word today comes from the Book of Psalms...
These verses are from a song of praise, celebrating the Lord's deliverance of David from the threat of death. Our God is a God of grace and mercy. When we go to Him, humbly, in prayer, he can turn any situation around. Out of the depths of despair we can come dancing and rejoicing. Our God is able. He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly more than we can ever imagine. And for that we give Him all our praise and thanks...for ever.
For my layout today I used a photo from our summer vacation. It was taken at Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, CO. For some reason, Tim decided to climb to the top of one of the huge rock formations. (Don't try this at home LOL). Guess he was just getting closer to God!!! When he made it safely to the top we all danced and rejoiced!!
Supplies:
Little Yellow Bicycle Patterned Paper
Mr Huey's Mists
Tim Holtz Distress Stains
Studio Calico Stencil
Tim Holtz Staples
Washi tape, Gems, Brads
Spellbinders Nestabilities Die

Word Art Wednesday #53
Happy Wednesday!! It's the first Wednesday of November so it's double sponsor day! Today's word art comes from 1 Thessalonians...
Give thanks in EVERYTHING??? You must be kidding!! When things don't go my way, I'm to give thanks? When I don't have food to eat, I'm to give thanks? When someone wrongs me, I'm to give thanks? YES!!! God tells us to give thanks in everything. The verse doesn't say give thanks for everything, but in everything. Why? Because we know that all things work together for good to them that love God (Romans 8:28). God is in control and nothing happens without His permission. He takes everything that happens in our lives and works it for our ultimate good. Whatever our circumstances, we always have something to be thankful for.
Supplies:
Bo Bunny Patterned Paper
Autumn Leaves Cardstock
Queen & Co. Pearls
Button, Ribbon
Fiskars Border Punch

November Gems of Inspiration
It’s the first Friday in November and I’m back with the monthly
Our Daily Bread Designs Forum Gems of Inspiration Scrapbook Challenge.
Autumn is in full swing and we’re rapidly approaching the
start of the holiday season. Yes, Thanksgiving
is just 3 weeks away. Thanksgiving brings
a season of gratitude as people reflect on their lives and the things that they’re
thankful for. As Christians, every day
for us should be Thanksgiving Day. We have so much to be thankful for, God has
blessed each and every one of us and He has shown us unmerited favor. That alone is more than enough reason to give
thanks.
Thanksgiving is our inspiration for November…counting our
blessings and being grateful. The challenge
is this… create a layout about one of your
blessings or something you are grateful for.
For my layout today, I used some photos from our trip to
the summit of Pikes Peak, taken during our summer road trip across the U.S. I am so grateful that we were able to take
that family vacation with my Dad and my brother and his family. When the idea of the trip first came up, I
wasn’t sure that it would actually happen because there were a few obstacles in
the way, but God worked everything out and we had the best time.
The ODBD Keep
Climbing stamp set was perfect for my photos. I used the mountain range plus several other
stamps from the set on my layout.
Supplies:
Little Yellow Bicycle Patterned Paper
Jillibean Soup Journaling Sprouts
ODBD Keep Climbing Stamp Set
ODBD Fleur De Lis Borders Stamp
TPC Studios Metal Accents
Recollections Gems and Tickets
QuicKutz Font
Twine, Ink
I challenge you to play
along this month. I’d love to see your
layouts. You are not required to use
ODBD stamps for this challenge, but if you do, please upload your pages to the ODBD gallery. If you
aren't yet registered in the gallery, sign up only takes a couple of minutes. If you do not use ODBD stamps, you can post to your blog or another publicly
viewable online gallery (keyword ODBDGI11). Be sure to come back and post the link here so we can see your beautiful work.

Word Art Wednesday #52
Happy Wednesday!! This Wednesday is the 52nd Word Art Wednesday!! Wow!! We've been doing this for a year now. They say that time flies when you're having fun and I have certainly had a ball creating scrapbook pages using Word Art. WAW has been such a blessing to me and I am so looking forward to continuing this journey into it's second year. I pray that you all continue on this road with me.
Today's word art is from the Book of Hebrews...
Today's word tells us to BOLDLY come before the throne of grace. God wants us to come to Him without fear. We are not to be embarrased or ashamed to make our needs and requests known to Him. Nothing is too big or too small for God. We are to come to him confidently, not full of pride, but in humility. When we come to Him boldly in prayer, we will find help in our time of need.
For today's layout I used a picture of one of my sister's in Christ praying during our church's annual women's retreat.
Supplies:
Making Memories Patterned Paper
Paper Studio Stickers
Mark Richards and Recollections Gems
Martha Stewart Punch
Tim Holtz Distress Ink

Word Art wednesday #51
Happy Wednesday!!!! Today's Word Art comes from the Gospel of Matthew...
While traveling through Arizona this summer, on our road trip across the U.S., we were so blessed to see a double rainbow. I have always heard that we will find our treasure, a pot of gold, at the end of the rainbow, but hopefully we all know this not to be true. Our treasure doesn't lie in earthly things, for these things are temporary, they come and go. God doesn't tell us that we can't have riches and enjoy great things, He tells us that these type of things should not be the focus or the goal of our work here on earth. Our treasure lies in things that are eternal, Godly things, heavenly things. When we place our treasure in these things, that's what will have our hearts.
Our sponsor this week is Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps and I used one of her adorable images on my page. I just resized it, printed it, colored it, die cut it, and adhered it to my page. Quick and easy and what a cute embellishment!
Supplies:
Sandylion Patterned Paper
Autumn Leaves Cardstock
Mr. Huey's Mists
Prismacolor Pencils, Gamsol
Ranger Glossy Accents
Colorbox Chalk Ink, Pebbles Chalk
Spellbinders Die, Fiskars Corner Punch
Sei Brad

Word Art Wednesday #50
Hi Everyone!! It's Word Art Wednesday time!!! Our word art today comes from the book of James...
God delights in blessing us. He knows each one of us intimately. God's gifts are perfect because He would not give us a gift that was more than we could handle or was outside of His will and purpose for our life. God doesn't bless us because of anything we do, He blesses us because of who He is. God's gifts are good because they come from His character, we can't do anything to earn or deserve them.
As parents we try to give our children the perfect gifts, ones suited just for them. Just think how much more perfect God's gifts are to us, His children.
Supplies:
DCWV Patterned Paper
Bakers Twine, Button

Word Art Wednesday #49
Happy Wednesday!! Today's Word Art comes from the book of Ephesians...
Forgiveness seems to be a hot topic these days. TD Jakes and Joyce Meyer have both recently published books on forgiveness. While I'm sure these books are excellent reads and full of great advice, all we really need to read on forgiveness is in The Book. Today's word tells us to forgive each other just as God in Christ has forgiven us. Of course we're all human and forgiving each other is usually much easier said than done. We love that God has forgiven us, we just don't want to forgive others the have had "the nerve" to do something to offend us. Forgiveness is hard, but we can forgive others if we are walking in the forgiveness of God. If we look at our own lives and see all we have done to offend God, and realize that He has forgiven us over and over again, how can we not forgive others? We can't do it in and of ourselves, but with God we can forgive others, simply because He has forgiven us.
For my page today, I used a photo of my son's little league team after a baseball game. The photo was taken several years ago and to be truthful, I can't remember whether they won or lost the game. Our county isn't that big, so when my son's team played, they were almost always playing against some of their friends. But after every game, win or lose, they smiled and shook hands. All the tags out, all the bad pitches, jeering, and bad plays were forgiven, and they went from being opponents back to being friends.
Supplies:
DCWV Patterned Paper & Cardstock
Making Memories Brads
Carolee's Creations Stickers
Tim Holtz Distress Ink
Metal Baseball
Distrezz It All

Word Art Wednesday #48
It's the first Wednesday of October so it's double sponsor day!!! Today's Word Art comes from 1 Corinthians...
I've been under the weather the past few days. I had a flu shot last week and it left me with a mild case of the flu. I haven't felt up to creating or writing anything, so I was just going to post this week's Word Art without any commentary or actual art. But God had other plans. When I went to get the Word Art for today, I was pleasantly surprized to find that the scripture verses were the same ones we discussed in Sunday School this Sunday. Then, attached to an e-mail from a sister-in-Christ, was a photo of me lovingly giving advice and instruction to one of our younger sisters at our women's ministry fall luncheon. Coincidence you say?? Not on your life. It's a God thing!!!!
So I leave you with a few words about today's scripture, paraphrased from our Sunday School lesson...
When Paul (the writer of 1 Corinthians) speaks of "charity" we should read that word as "love". More importantly we should know that Paul is speaking of a specific form of love. Paul is describing agape, a commitment of the will to cherish and uphold another person. In the Bible this is the form of love that is always used when we describe God's love. Agape describes our willful and deliberate decision to treat others with the utmost care and concern and allows us to esteem the best interests of our brother or sister above our own. We must remember that this form of love is only possible when we love God first. Love must be put into practice on a daily basis. We must constantly measure our love and ask ourselves, "Did I show love in that situation or toward that person?" And more importantly, "Am I growing?" Love indeed results in characteristics that can be seen and heard.
Supplies:
Club Scrap Patterned Paper
Spellbinders and Lifestyle Crafts Dies

Word Art Wednesday #47
Happy Wednesday!!! Today's word art comes from 1 Peter....
How often have you heard adults talk about the "good old days" when they were children and didn't have a care in the world. Their parents took care of everything and they were just foot loose and fancy free, not having to worry about earthly things.
As adults, we do have a parent who takes care of everything for us. He is God, our Father. If we humble ourselves and depend on God and His grace, He will care for us. When we face unthinkable trials, when we face circumstances that we don't think we can handle, when we are in unfamiliar territory and don't know which way to turn, we should turn to God. God wants us to cast all of our burdens on Him, and He will enable us to withstand all that is put upon us. He wants us to look to Him for our strength. God loves us and will never forget about us.
For today's layout I used a photo of my son and my 2 nieces that was taken during our summer vacation. They were so carefree and full of joy, having a great time in the Pacific Ocean.
Supplies:
Sei Patterned Paper
Baker's Twine
Charm

Word Art Wednesday #46
It's Word Art Wednesday!! Today's word art comes from the Book of Proverbs...

As I was working on my page for today, a hymn I learned during my childhood kept playing in my head.
What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
I have been blessed with many friends during the different seasons of my life. Some closer than others. But do they love at all times? I would like to think so, but I'm not naive. The number that loves at all times is probably pretty small. But there is one friend that I know without a shadow of a doubt loves at all times, and that's Jesus. I am so glad that I can always turn to him. He loves us unconditionally.

Word Art Wednesday #45
Happy Wednesday!! This week's word art comes from the book of Proverbs...
The book of Proverbs deals with the "art of living". Today's verse, from the NIV translation, reads: "Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed." Pretty straight forward, don't you think? Everything we do, we should do as unto the Lord. Not just the big things, but everything. Just think about the joy we would get out of the everyday tasks if we did them as if we were doing them for the Lord. Our attitude would change and that would effect the attitudes of the people around us. Joy is contageous. We must continue to let our lights shine by committing our works unto the Lord.
The photo I used today is from the installation of officers for my church's women's ministry. Two of my sisters in Christ were praying over me as I was being installed. It was a prayer of commitment, commitment first to the Lord, and secondly to the women that I serve in my position.

ODBD September Gems of Inspiration Challenge
Happy Friday!!! It's the first Friday in September, and time
for a new Gems of Inspiration scrapbook challenge in the Our Daily Bread Designs Forum.
September officially marks the end of summer and fall is
just around the corner. The school year has started, bible studies
and other activities are resuming and it’s time to get back into learning mode.
Back to school is our inspiration for September, and the challenge
is … create a layout that uses an
element that has to do with education or learning. Your page can be about any theme, but at least
one thing on the page has to be related to learning.
For my layout today, I used a couple of photos that I
took on the first day of school. Of course it’s not cool to have your mother outside
taking your picture on the first day of school when you’re in high school, so TJ
has his “hurry up and get this over with look on his face”. LOL My
challenge elements are the patterned paper with the globe and text, and a
bookmark. I created the bookmark using
the ODBD Bookmarks
-Eagle stamp. I stamped the bookmark
image on patterned paper and choose the Proverbs
16:3 scripture stamp for the center of the bookmark. I think this is a perfect scripture for the
school year.
Commit to the
Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. Proverbs 16:3.
Supplies:
My Mind’s Eye Patterned paperODBD Bookmarks-Eagle Stamps
ODBD Scripture Collection 5 Stamps
Reminisce Stickers Tim Holtz Ruler Ribbon
Tim Holtz Numerals
Tim Holtz Staples
Distrezz It All
VersaFine Ink
I challenge you to play along this month. I’d love to see your layouts. You are not required to use ODBD stamps for this challenge, but if you do, please upload your pages to the Scrapbook Pages Category in the ODBD gallery. If you aren't yet registered in the gallery, sign up only takes a couple of minutes. If you do not use ODBD stamps, you can upload to your blog or another publicly viewable online gallery and share the link here in the comments.
Thanks for stopping by. Blessings!

Word Art Wednesday #44
It's the first Wednesday of the month so it's double sponsor day! Today is all about love and our word art is from 1 John...
Supplies:
Sei Patterned Paper
Martha Stewart Cardstock
EK Success Alphabet Stickers
Jelly Park Digi Stamp
Copic Markers
Glossy Accents
The little couple on the sofa is a digi stamp from one of this week's sponsors Jellypark. I colored it with copics, added glossy accents and cut it out to make a little embellishment.
And since this was a dressy affair, Tim and I put on our finest for the occasion. (For some reason, the camera gave us "white" eye.)
I hope you join the Word Art Wednesday challenge this week. Feel free to save today's word art to your computer for your personal use. This weekend Tim and I had the priviledge of attending our friends' 50th wedding anniversary celebration. And what a celebration it was!!! They renewed their wedding vows, there was praise dancing, singing, tributes, toasting, great food, and dancing. But the thing that stood out the most was the love of God that filled the room. When the couple spoke, they repeatedly testified that it was nothing but God that kept them together for 50 years, through the ups and the downs, the good times and the not so good ones. Everyone that stood up to give a tribute, spoke on the love of God that radiated from the couple. Some even testified that the couple was responsible for leading them to Christ. So since today's word is about love, I'm dedicating my layout today to Roy and Dorothy Tibbs on their 50th anniversary.Supplies:

Inspired by A Sweethaven Homecoming
One great thing about the blog world is that you get to stumble on some good things. I found out about Courtney Walsh's blog through a link on another blog. I was really excited to check out her blog as she is the author of one of my fav scrapbooking guides, "Scrapbooking Your Faith". Upon checking out her blog I discovered that she is a novelist as well and has just released her latest book, "A Sweethaven Homecoming". I haven't read any novels in awhile, but I am looking forward to reading her Sweethaven series. And these novels include scrapbooking, how good can it get LOL.
Courtney is running a scrapbook challenge on her blog to create a layout or other piece of art inspired by her latest novel. She has posted some layout ideas on her blog for those of us who haven't read the book yet. :) I choose the theme of friendship and reconnecting for my layout. The photos are of me and my cousin LaVonzell, whom I hadn't seen in 9 years. We stopped to visit her, my other cousins, and my aunt during our summer road trip across the US.
I had fun creating this layout. It brought back great memories of our visit. The supplies are all from Me and My Big Ideas. I used 2 sheets of the background patterned paper, colored and embellished the flowers on one sheet, cut them out and adhered them over the flowers on the second sheet with pop dots to give them a great 3D look.
If you get a moment check out Courtney Walsh's Blog. It's a good thing...
Thanks for stopping by today.
Blessings.

Word Art Wednesday #43
It's time for some new word art. This week's art comes from 3 John...
Tim, my husband, my beloved, is a mighty man of God. He strives to live his life in accordance with God's word and I watch his faith grow day by day. His soul indeed prospers. As John prayed for his dear friend Gaius, I too pray for my beloved, that he may enjoy good health and that all will go well with him, just as it is well with his soul.
For today's layout, I used a photo of Tim and I, that was taken inside the top of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, MO during our summer vacation.
Supplies:
My Minds Eye Patterned Paper
Queen & Co Heart Brad
Recollections Bling
Tim Holtz Spinner
Lace & Trim from my Stash
Lifestyle Crafts Die
Glossy Accents
Tim Holtz Distress Ink
I hope you join the Word Art Wednesday challenge this week. Feel free to save today's word art to your computer for your personal use. Word Art Wednesday #42
It's Word Art Wednesday time!!! This week's word art comes from the Book of Psalms...
Jesus paid the price for our redemption with his blood. That alone is more than enough reason to spend our lives joyfully praising God. When I think of all He's brought me through, I can't help but praise Him! When I see him working in my life, in the lives of my husband and son, I can't help but praise Him!
I used a photo of myself on my layout today. It was taken at a women's fellowship event at my church where we are always praising and rejoicing in the goodness of God. And no, that hat isn't a part of my attire LOL.

Sing praises to the King for He is the King of Kings.

All hail King Jesus. All hail Emmanuel.
