MFP Scrapbook Challenge #4

It's time for a new scrapbook challenge over at MFP SpeedyTV.   This week's challenge is a theme challenge. Your challenge is to create a layout with a winter theme.  Your layout can use winter photos, colors of winter, winter stamps, winter embellishments or anything that reminds you of winter.  Remember this challenge is strictly scrapbook layouts, no cards please, and you have to use stamps on your layouts.  You can use any stamps you'd like, but if you use Marks Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co stamps you will be entered twice for a chance to win this fabulous stamp set...

For my layout I used photos from a snowstorm we had in January.   I know some of you are looking at the photos and thinking "What snowstorm???", but for us even a little snow is a big deal.  I love these patterned papers from the Bo Bunny Snow Day collection because the green and brown are such unconventional colors for winter papers.  I cut all of the tags from one of the papers and stamped them with sentiments from Marks Finest Papers In My Den and On the Fly stamps sets.

Word Art Wednesday #69

It's the last Wednesday in February, time for some word art.  Today's word is from the Book of Psalms...

I choose another photo from my grandmother's album for today's layout.  It was taken outside her church in Oxford, Mississippi.  My grandmother's family didn't have much in terms of worldly things but they had a strong faith.  They loved the Lord, he was the source of all their happiness.  It was through their struggle that they learned to rely on God.  He was the strength of their heart, their rock and their portion forever.

MFP Scrapbook Challenge #3

It's time for a new scrapbook challenge over at MFP SpeedyTV.   This week's challenge is a sketch challenge. Your challenge is to create a layout based on the following sketch by Pagemaps.

Your layout doesn't have to be an exact copy of the sketch.  Feel free to rotate it, add or delete elements, just use the sketch as a guide to spark your imagination.

For my layout I used photos from my grandmother's album.  Once again,  I don't know who these women are, but I love looking at them and imagining what their life must have been like in the 1930's and 40's. I stamped the  flower and hummingbird image in black and  decided not to color it in. Since my patterned paper is black and teal I thought the black image stamped on the teal cardstock coordinated nicely.  I may go back and add some Stickles for a little sparkle.

Word Art Wednesday # 68

It's Word Art Wednesday time!   This week's word art is from the Book of Psalms...

Soundness or perfectness of heart signifies sincerity in dependence on God and devotedness to Him.  I'd like to think that I depend on God at all times but in all honesty there are times when I depend on self or on others, thinking that I alone can handle the "small stuff".   So like the psalmist, I pray for a heart that's perfected in God's statutes (not those of man) which results in unwavering adherence to God's word.  I am a work in progress and I am so thankful that God's not through with me yet.

The photo on my layout today is of me and my sister-friend Bea at our church's Valentine's Banquet last week.   The heart is a digi stamp from one of today's sponsors DigiDarla Designs.

Supplies:
Cloud 9 Designs Patterned Paper
DigiDarlas Blooming Heart-colored
Webster's Pages Gems
Lifestyle Crafts Die
Martha Stewart Punch

Word Art Wednesday #67

It's the Wednesday before Valentine's Day so today's word art is all about love...

God commands us to love one another.  God is love and true love originates with God.  Real love shows that we have His spirit and that we are His children.  When we love one another, unconditionally, we become more and more like God.  What better way to let our lights shine than to show God's love towards everyone.  Tomorrow is Valentine's Day, the day the world sets aside to show love for one another.  As God's children we shouldn't wait for a special day to show love, everyday should be like Valentine's Day.
I know it's hard sometimes to show love when someone is being unkind to you, but I have challenged myself to show love and kindness even when I, in my flesh, don't feel it's warranted.  I must admit, I don't always stand up to this challenge, but when I do,  I am always blessed.

As some of you already know, I am working on an album of photos that belonged to my grandmother.  I used one of these photos for my layout today.  I don't know who this couple is, as my grandmother hadn't written anything on the photo, but they are such a handsome couple that I wanted to keep their picture.  Since the photo was in the album, I figure they must be relatives or very close friends.

Supplies:
Prima Patterned Paper
Bazzill Cardstock
Photo Corners
Buttons
Tim Holtz Distress Ink

A New Scrapbook Challenge

There's a new scrapbook challenge over at MFP Speedy TV.  If you like to scrapbook and win free stuff, this is the challenge for you! With so many card challenges these days,  it's so exciting to have a challenge just for scrapbook pages.  There will be a new challenge posted every Thurday.  This week's challenge is an "Anything Goes" challenge.  The only "rule" is that you must use stamps on your layout.   To find out all about the challenge and how to link up your page for a chance to win this week's prize, check out this post on the Scrapbook Challenge Forum at MFP SpeedyTV.

For my layout I used an Easter photo from 1964.  Now I know where I got my love of fashion.  My Mom dressed me well.  LOL

The stamps are from Mark's Finest Papers He Is Risen set.  I colored the images with PrismaColor Pencils and Gamsol and added Glossy Accents to the lillies.  The patterned paper is by Reminisce.

Be sure to visit  MFP SpeedyTV and check out the challenge guidelines.  I'm looking forward to seeing your layouts.

Thanks for stopping by.  Blessings!

Word Art Wednesday #66

It's the first Wednesday in February and time for some word art.  Today's word comes from the Book of Proverbs...

Proverbs tells us that the sweetest friendship is a friendship with one who cares enough to give wise counsel.  This friend is truly concerned about our welfare and isn't afraid to tell us the truth.   This is a friend you can rely on for good sound advice, the friend that is with you in good times and bad.

I am so blessed to have a couple Proverbs 27.9 friends.  I think God placed each one of them in my life for different reasons,  to minister to different areas and situations in my life.  My layout today features a picture of one of these friends and myself,  enjoying lunch at Olive Garden. The image of the girl with the flowers is a digi from one of today's sponsors, Robyn's Fetish.

Supplies:
Prima Patterned Paper
Bazzil Cardstock
Leslie in the Garden Digi by Robyn's Fetish
Prima Lace
Basic Grey Gems
Prismacolor Pencils
Gamsol

Topical Tuesday - Faith

It's Topical Tuesday over at Faithfully Yours and this Tuesday's topic is Faith.  Barbara Graves has written a wonderful devotional about faith which you can read here.

I'm doing 4x6 cards for the Topical Tuesday challenge. This week I used one of Faithfully Yours'  Faith Pocket Insert Cards from the Praise Today collection.   The card is actually a vertical card but I decided to use it horizontally.  I trimmed the sentiment off the top of the card, turned it horizontally, stamped the scripture on the card, added some stickers and bling and matted the whole thing on a scrap of FY Peace Dove paper that I had leftover from a Christmas layout.

To learn more about the  FY Topical Tuesday Challenge,  check out my post here.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Blessings!
