Happy Wednesday!!! Time for some word art. Today's word art is one of my favorite scriptures...
We try to impress upon our teenage son that you don't have to walk around quoting scripture or beating people over the head with the bible to let your light shine. Your light can shine through your everyday behavior...the way you carry yourself and what you say, how you treat others and how you react to the way they treat you. Your light shines when you display the fruit of the Spirit...love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (see Galatians 5:22).
The photo I choose for my layout today is a perfect example of letting your light shine. It's a photo of the teen volunteers in our church's Awana program at the year end awards ceremony. These high school students come faithfully every Wednesday evening to assist the Awana leaders and help the children learn their scripture verses. And they have their own bible study at the end of the Awana night. I can think of a million places a teenager would love to be on a Wednesday night, but these teens choose to be about the Father's business...and they are letting their lights' shine!!

Word Art Wednesday #29
Happy Wednesday!!! Time for some new word art! Today's word comes from Psalm 62...
Selah...pause, ponder, praise. Whenever we see this word we should pause, reflect on what we have just read, and praise God for His truths.
Trust in Him at all times...we are to trust God always, during good times and bad, when things are going as we would like as well as when we're in a dark place wondering when we'll see the light. It's easy to say that we put our total trust in Him, but do we really trust Him with our whole heart? Do we wait on God to act, or do we grow impatient and decide to "fix" things on our own or "help" God out? Sometimes in our humanness, we may feel that God has forgotten about us, but rest assured God will never leave us or forsake us, He is always working on our behalf, for our good. All we have to do is trust in Him...always.
God desires to have a personal relationship with each and every one of us. He wants us to confide in Him, to share our innermost thoughts and desires with Him, to pour out our hearts to Him. Sure, He knows all and there's nothing we can hide from Him, but He wants us to freely confess our sins and unburden our souls to Him, to tell Him our wants as well as our needs, to share our joys and our sorrows. When we patiently submit our will to His, there is nothing that He won't do on our behalf.
God is our refuge, He is our shelter during life's storms. We can always find safety and comfort when we rest in His loving arms.
While searching my files for a photo to use on today's layout, I came across this picture that was taken at my church's women's retreat this spring. I think it convey's today's word pretty well...
Supplies:
Little Yellow Bicycle Patterned Paper
Prima Gems
Papertrey Ink Buttons
Lifestyle Crafts Die

Word Art Wednesday #28
Hi!!! It's Word Art Wednesday!!! Today's word art comes from 2 Timothy...
God has not given us the spirit of fear. He does not want us walking around timidly or as cowards. Fear is not of God. Instead, He has given us power, power from Him to enable us to withstand trials and tribulations, conflicts and danger. Power to resist temptation. Power to enable us to go out boldly and do His will. He's given us love, first and foremost to love Him, with all our heart, mind soul and strength and then to love our neighbor. And he's given us a sound mind, a mind that's well balanced and under the right influences, not "cluttered up" with the cares of the world, a mind that moves forward in the work of the Lord.
For my layout I used photos from a huge snowstorm we had in 2010. We don't get tons of snow around here so a snowstorm is a really big deal. The newspapers ran all kinds of stories about the hazards we might face in the storm conditions. Sure we heeded the warnings, but we didn't stay holed up in our house out of fear. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear....
Supplies:
Bo Bunny Patterned Paper
American Crafts Cardstock
Martha Stewart Gem Snowflakes

Word Art Wednesday #27
Hello Everyone!! It's time for our Wednesday word art. This week's art comes from Isaiah 41...
God is righteous and He is always faithful. God holds the right hand of His people, teaching them to walk by faith and He keeps them from falling. He is our strength and our protector. If God is with us, and we fully rely on Him, we have nothing to fear.
For my layout I used photos of my son's first ride on one of the really big rollercoasters at Busch Gardens. He was a little nervous while waiting in line but when he got off the ride he was all smiles and ready to ride again. I'm sure God was whispering in his ear and holding his right hand when he boarded the ride.

ODBD May Scrapbook Challenge
Hi everyone!! It's time for the May Our Daily Bread Designs Scrapbook Challenge!! May is usually a busy month with college graduations, school winding down for the summer, and many school year activities having their closing ceremonies and award programs. A lot of times we may feel that we're running in circles. So for May, we decided to challenge you to a sketch challenge with a "twist". Your challenge for May is to create a layout of any size using Our Daily Bread Designs stamps and the sketch below.
The twist is...you must also use circles!! Your layout can be any theme so have fun with it!! You can turn the sketch, add more than 1 photo, add paint splatters, a doily or buttons for your circles, whatever you like!!!
For my layout, I decided to use the sketch as is and add a couple more photos.
The stamps are from the Fortress set, part of the ODBD May release. This set was perfect for the photos of our visit to Medieval Times in 2006. I used three of the stamps from the set beneath my photos...the tower image as my focal point, and a scripture on either side of the tower. To complement the tower image, I embossed a strip of cardstock using the Tim Holtz Bricked Texture Fades embossing folder and sanded it a bit for a distressed look. I also distressed the edges of my stamped images, matted them on green cardstock and attached them to the embossed strip with staples. Screw head brads were the "circle twist" for my page.
Here's a close up of the stamps:
Supplies:
Karen Foster Designs Patterned Paper
Bazzill and Coredinations Cardstock
K & Co. Journaling Tag
ODBD Fortress Stamp Set
Tim Holtz Staples
Tim Holtz Texture Fades Embossing Folder
Pebbles Chalk, Memento Ink, Copic Markers
Brads
To see all the challenge guidelines and how you can win a $15 gift certificate to the Our Daily Bread Designs store click here. Also be sure to check out Patter Cross' inspiration for this challenge in her blog post here. The challenge runs through Thursday May 31st , 6:00 PM EDT.
I hope you decide to join in this challenge. I can't wait to see what you create.

May Gems of Inspiration Challenge
Happy Friday!!! It's the first Friday in May and time
for a new Gems of Inspiration scrapbook challenge on the Our Daily Bread Designs Forum.
Tomorrow is National Scrapbook Day, a manmade holiday that was started by Creative Memories Consultants in 1995. It started as a day to work on your scrapbooks while celebrating the fun of connecting with others. It has now evolved into “big business” . Almost every scrapbook store is offering some type of NSD sale and you can find NSD retreats and crops popping up everywhere.
In honor of National Scrapbook Day, this month’s challenge is simple…Just scrapbook!!!! Anything and everything… there is no required theme, no color scheme, no sketch…anything goes!!!! And what’s a celebration without a prize?? At the end of the month, one random follower will be blessed with a surprise package of goodies from me.

ODBD Happy Mother's Day Stamp Set
Prima & Petaloo Flowers
Creative Imaginations Flower Brad

If you aren't yet registered in the gallery, sign up only takes a couple of minutes. If you do not use ODBD stamps, then you can post to your blog or another publicly viewable online gallery and share the link here in the comment section.
To be eligible to win the surprize package you must be a follower of my blog and create a scrapbook page in May. On May 31st I will draw the winner of the surprise package from all the layouts

Word Art Wednesday #26
It's Word Art Wednesday time!!!! This week's word art comes from the book of Nahum.
Nahum is one of the shorter books of the bible...only 3 chapters. It's main focus is God's judgement on the city of Nineveh because of it's idolatry and wickedness. God is slow to anger, but he does not leave the guilty unpunished. However, for those of us who trust in him, he is a refuge in times of trouble. No matter how bad things may seem, God looks after those who love Him.
For my layout I used a photo of me (far right) and 3 of my sisters in Christ at a women's conference last November.
Supplies:
Sei Patterned Paper and Die Cuts
Spellbinders Labels 23
Papertrey Ink Buttons
Bazzill Gems
