Word Art Wednesday #91

Hi!! It's Wednesday and  I'm back with some new word art for you!!  This week's word comes from the Book of Psalms...

Psalm 124 is Israel's praise of the Lord for his deliverance from some powerful enemies.  Today's word is the last verse of the psalm.  Often times when we find ourselves in trouble or when things aren't going as we planned, we rely on our family and friends, on other people, or even ourselves for help.  Then we wonder why things aren't working out, why we can't find a solution to our predicament.  Instead, first and foremost, we should look upward to God, who created all things.  Nothing is too hard for our God. All heaven and earth and everything in it are the works of his hands. If God can create all this, surely He can help us times of trouble. He just wants us to ask.

The photo on today's layout was taken at the Grand Canyon last summer.  Talk about breathtaking!!  No one but God could create something as magnificent as this.

Word Art Wednesday #89

Welcome back to Word Art Wednesday!  Today's word art comes from the Book of Isaiah...

The assurances God has given us of His love, and the benefits and comfort of His grace, should greatly encourage our faith in Him and our expectations from Him.  God's promises given out to us are wells of salvation, for in them salvation is made known to us.  It is our duty by faith to joyfully draw water out of these wells, to take the benefits and comfort that are treasured up for us in them.

The photo on my layout was taken by my friend Ruthann at a scrapbook getaway weekend in Nags Head N.C.  Our house was right on the beach and the view was spectacular.  The sound of the waves coming in and out was so peaceful and relaxing, the perfect accompaniment for meditation and prayer.

I used another photo from my grandmother's album today.  This time it's my mother's brother, my Uncle Wayne. He was about 2 years younger than my mom, who was the oldest.  He was about 14 or 15 in this photo.  Uncle Wayne grew up to be a preacher and he was truly a man of God who lived what he preached.  I was fortunate enough to get to spend some time with him during his short lifetime...God called him home in his 40's.

I used stamps  from the MFP  In My Den stamp set for this page.  They coordinated with the photo perfectly. I colored them with Copics, fussy cut and mounted them on my page.  I also used several Lifestyle Crafts and Spellbinders dies to round out the challenge..

I can't wait to see what you create for this week's challenge! To be eligible to win the July stamp be sure to link your page to MFPSpeedyTV Scrapbook Challenge #23  and mention the MFPSpeedyTV Scrapbook Challenge in your blog post. Word Art Wednesday #88

It's Word Art Wednesday time!! This week's word art comes from 1Timothy...

Our word art comes from the King James version of the Bible.  I looked up today's scripture in the NIV and it reads:

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

Spiritual maturity is not always associated with years.  The way you live your life,  your actions and words, how you conduct yourself in different situations, manifests your Godly character.  God uses even the youngest of us to spread His word and minister to others.  Living a Godly life will earn you the respect of others no matter what your age.

When I read today's word, I immediately knew what photo I wanted to use for my layout.  We just finished Vacation Bible School at my church and we had a great outpouring of teen helpers.  Quite a few of them were mature enough in their spiritual walk to be Crew Leaders.  My photo today is of 2 of the leaders.   That's my son on the right.  Our teens did an amazing job this year.  They earned the respect of their crew members because they modeled Godly actions and behaviors.  You could see God's light shining through them.

MFP Scrapbook Challenge # 22

Happy 4th of July!!  It's time for a new scrapbook challenge over at  Mark's Finest Papers SpeedyTV.  We have a great challenge this week so I hope you'll play along.
.
This week's challenge is a color challenge.  In honor of the 4th of July your challenge is to create a layout using a combination of red, white and blue and one additional color of your choice.

Remember this challenge is strictly scrapbook layouts, no cards please, and you have to use stamps on your layouts. They don't have to be Marks Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co stamps but if you do use them you will receive an additional entry for a chance to win our weekly stamp prize for July ...

I found this photo of a little boy in a sailor outfit in my grandmother's album.  I don't know who he is but he was obviously someone important to her, since she had his photo neatly pasted in her book. I stretched the color challenge a bit with my patterned paper, but I just had to use it.  So my one additional color to the red, white and blue is "shades of light brown" (smile). I used stamps  from the MFP  Be Proud and USA Heroes stamp sets.

I can't wait to see what you create for this week's challenge! To be eligible to win the July stamp be sure to link your page to MFP SpeedyTV Scrapbook Challenge #22  and mention the MFPSpeedyTV Scrapbook Challenge in your blog post. Please do not submit any back linked layouts. You have until 9:00 pm on Wednesday July 10th to submit your layouts.

Word Art Wednesday #87

I'm back!!!  Sorry I haven't posted in a couple of weeks but sometimes life gets in the way of blogging and creating (smile).  It's good to be back to scrapbooking again and since it is Wednesday,  I have some word art for you.

This week's word comes from the Book of Psalms...

As we get ready for the 4th of July holiday I think this scripture speaks for itself.  Our Pledge of Allegiance says that we are "one nation under God".  I certainly feel blessed to live in the United States and doubly blessed that God choose me as an heir to His inheritance.

Today's layout features a photo of my grandmother standing at the base of the Washington Monument, in our nation's capitol.  My parents were married in February of 1955 at my great Aunt Rosa's house in Washington D.C.  My grandmother came up from Mississippi for the wedding and she did some sightseeing while she was in town.  This photo and a couple of wedding photos were the only photos in her album to document the trip.
