Just wanted to share...

TJ got his 11th grade school portraits back last week and I just can't believe how grown up he is.  I guess it's because I see him all the time.  He's not my little boy anymore, but has grown into a handsome young man, if I do say so myself.  I am so proud of him.

Anyway, I just wanted to share...

Thanks for stopping by.  Be blessed.

Christmas 1961

It's time for the weekly Mark's Finest Papers SpeedyTV  scrapbook challenge!  This week's challenge is Christmas in October.  Your challenge is to create a Christmas themed layout.  It can be about anything Christmassy,  and you must use a stamp(s) somewhere on your layout.

For today's layout I used a photo of me and my Dad on Christmas Day, 1961.  The photo isn't in the traditional shape of photos back then because I scanned it from a slide and printed it out in 4x6.  I used stamps from the MFP Holiday Tag and Presents stamp sets.

I can't wait to see what you create for this week's challenge! To be eligible to win be sure to link your page to MFPSpeedyTV Scrapbook Challenge #37  and mention the MFPSpeedyTV Scrapbook Challenge in your blog post. You have until 9:00 pm on Wednesday October 23rd to submit your layouts.

Project Life and Daydream Designs

I'm not the biggest Project Life fan, but when I saw these cute journal cards and photos mats that Helen Phelps created to go along with the Daydream Designs Birthday Hoot and Hard Rock Candy Bingo Plus collections, I knew I had to give Project Life a chance.

Of course I just happened to have some Project Life type page protectors in my stash so I resized the journal cards to fit my protectors and printed them out.  Super easy!!  Being a die hard scrapbooker,  I couldn't just be satisfied with some slip in cards, so I created my 4x6 page title  using a mini journal card, patterned paper from the DD Hard Rock Candy Bingo Plus collection, images from the DD Birthday Hoot collection, and some traditional scrapbooking stuff. I also matted one of my photos with DD Hard Rock Candy digi papers.  I'm really happy with how it turned out and I have to admit, Project Life isn't so bad after all LOL.

I have to apologize for the poor quality of the photo.  It's been raining here for the past several days so I had to photograph my page indoors and I haven't  mastered how to photograph layouts with page protectors without shadows or glare..

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Have a blessed week.

For today's layout I used a photo of my mother's younger sister and one of her friends. My mother and her sister were almost 11 years apart in age so my Mom had already moved away and married my Dad when her sister was a teenager.  The flowers are from the MFP Huge Blooms set, part of the October release.  I stamped them on patterned paper, fussy cut and added brads to the center of 2 of them.  The sentiment is also from that set.

I can't wait to see what you create for this week's challenge! To be eligible to win be sure to link your page to MFPSpeedyTV Scrapbook Challenge #36  and mention the MFPSpeedyTV Scrapbook Challenge in your blog post. You have until 9:00 pm on Wednesday October 16th to submit your layouts.

Little Miss Burnette

It's time for the weekly Mark's Finest Papers SpeedyTV scrapbook challenge! This week's challenge is to create an autumn themed layout.  Your layout can be about anything that speaks fall to you.  You could use fall themed photos, fall colors, fall patterned papers...anything that reminds you of fall, and you must use stamp(s) somewhere on your page.

You can use any type of stamps you wish, but if you use Marks Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co stamps, you will be entered twice for a chance to win our weekly stamp image. From now until the end of the year, there will be a different stamp  awarded each week.  So be sure to enter every week to have a chance of adding several of these wonderful images to your stamp collection.  We start our weekly challenge every Thursday so be sure to stop by.

Little Miss Burnette Taylor is the subject of my layout today.  I don't know anything about little Burnette, except that she has an unusual name and she is related somehow to my grandmother as my grandmother's maiden last name was McGlaun Taylor.  There are several photos of her and siblings in my grandmother's album, leading me to believe that she was a close relative.  The sentiment stamp I used is a sneak peek from the Mark's Finest Papers Huge Blooms set, part of the October release that will be available later this month.  The patterned paper is by Bella Blvd.

I can't wait to see what you create for this week's challenge! To be eligible to win be sure to link your page to MFPSpeedyTV Scrapbook Challenge #35  and mention the MFPSpeedyTV Scrapbook Challenge in your blog post. You have until 9:00 pm on Wednesday October 9th to submit your layouts.

Word Art Wednesday #100

Welcome to Word Art Wednesday.  I can't believe we've hit the 100 mark!!!!  This week is the 100th week of Word Art Wednesday!  Little did I know when I was asked to join the inagural design team for the Word Art Wednesday challenge in December of 2011 that it would turn into the huge success it is today.  We have over 550 followers on the challenge blog and have been blessed with over 200 entries for several weeks now.  Isn't God awesome!!!!  Thanks to Cassandra Cushman for starting this challenge and to Karen Letchworth, our fantastic challenge leader, blog administrator, and sister in Christ, for taking it over when Cassandra entered another season of her life.  Thanks too to Karen Murray for providing us with our beautiful word art every week.

Speaking of seasons, this week's word art comes from the Book of Ecclesiastes...

I believe God takes us through different seasons in our lives to mold and shape us into the people He wants us to be.  Some seasons are wonderful, others not so pleasant and  much harder to endure, but they all are necessary for our growth.   I am so blessed to have "inherited" my grandmother's photo album and some of her papers, because through her photos I am getting a glimpse of some of the seasons of her life and my mother's life.

My mother enlisted in the Army in January of 1952.  Prior to that she had spent 2 years in college. She decided to join the Army to give her brother that was next to her in age the opportunity to go to college as her parents couldn't afford to send both of them.  That alone is a testiment to the type of women she was.  The Army was her ticket out of the small Mississippi town she grew up in.  She got to travel the world during her 3 year army career.  The Army was also where she met my father.  She was honorably discharged in December of 1954 and she married my Dad in February of 1955.   They were married for 46 years before she passed in 2001.  I'd say her Army time was a pretty important season in her life!   On today's layout, I used a photo of my Mom in the Army at age 20.

I hope you join the Word Art Wednesday challenge this week. Feel free to save today's word art to your computer for your personal use. Check out the Word Art Wednesday Challenge Blog to see what the other design team members created with this week's word art. If you are new to our challenge, check out the challenge guidelines to find out how you can be eligible for the prize drawing from this week's sponsors Lisa's Altered Art and Eureka Stamps.
