Word Art Wednesday #43

It's time for some new word art.  This week's art comes from 3 John...

Tim,  my husband, my beloved, is a mighty man of God.  He strives to live his life in accordance with God's word and I watch his faith grow day by day.  His soul indeed prospers.  As John prayed for his dear friend Gaius,  I too pray for my beloved, that he may enjoy good health and that all will go well with him, just as it is well with his soul.

For today's layout, I used a photo of Tim and I, that was taken inside the top of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, MO during our summer vacation.

Supplies:
My Minds Eye Patterned Paper
Queen & Co Heart Brad

Word Art Wednesday #42

It's Word Art Wednesday time!!!  This week's word art comes from the Book of Psalms...

Jesus paid the price for our redemption with his blood.  That alone is more than enough reason to spend our lives joyfully praising God.  When I think of all He's brought me through,  I can't help but praise Him!  When I see him working in my life, in the lives of my husband and son, I can't help but praise Him!

Sing praises to the King for He is the King of Kings.
Sing praises to the King, for He's the King of Kings.

All hail King Jesus. All hail Emmanuel.

I used a photo of myself on my layout today.  It was taken at a women's fellowship event at my church where we are always praising and rejoicing in the goodness of God.  And no, that hat isn't a part of my attire LOL.

Supplies:
Cosmo Cricket Patterned Paper
Martha Stewart and American Crafts Cardstock
Webster's Pages Flower and Stick Pin

Word Art Wednesday #41

Happy Wednesday!!   Instead of a verse of scripture for our word art this week, we have a  quote from Mother Teresa...

Smiling,  that's been a big topic of discussion in our home lately.  TJ doesn't like to smile for pictures anymore.  I think it's a teen thing or something, smiling just isn't cool.  But sometimes, we can catch him off guard... perhaps with a joke or retelling of a funny experience ... and we'll get a glimpse of his beautiful smile and those  dimples.  That's what happened in the photo I used for my layout today. Tim was talking about something funny that happened at church and TJ was trying his best not to smile, but he couldn't help himself and Tim snapped the photo.  It's become one of my favorites.

Rose Garden

When I returned home from our vacation,  a RAK (random act of kindness) package from one of my sweet sisters in Christ was waiting for me.  I opened it to discover all kinds of wonderful goodies, including lots of flowers. I love flowers, in fact I have quite the collection of them :),  but I don't get to use them as often as I'd like.  As soon as I saw the flowers,  I knew I wanted to use them on a page,  so I looked through my vacation photos and found the perfect pictures...photos of my son and nieces taken at the Exposition Park Rose Garden in Los Angeles, CA.

I added some glimmer mist and stickles to the flowers to really make them sparkle and I added some Websters Pages trim under the flower on the left for a different look.

Supplies:
Webster's Pages Patterned Paper
Bazzill Cardstock
ODBD Honeycomb Background, Faith and Grow in Grace Stamps

Word Art Wednesday #40

Hi Everyone!!!  It's Word Art Wednesday time!!  Today's word comes from Psalm 33...

This verse really needs no explanation...

The NIV version reads... Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise Him.

And from The Message... Good people, cheer God!  Right-living people sound best when praisng.

In other words,  all of us (God's people) should be praising God, with joy and thanksgiving. No matter what we're going through, we all have something to praise Him for.  For the big things and the small things, in everything ...we must praise!

One way to praise is through song, so for my layout, I used a photo of my church choir singing praises to the King!!  On a whim, I took this photo with my cell phone at church on Sunday.  Imagine my delight when I read this week's word later on that day.  The photo fit this scripture perfectly!

Supplies:
Bo Bunny Patterned Paper
Bazzill Cardstock

ODBD August Gems of Inspiration Challenge

We’re deep into summer right now, and depending on where you live, you’re either enjoying the last days of summer vacation or the children are already back in school.  Either way, August seems to be a busy month for lots of us.

So the challenge for August is really simple… create a layout using photos that were taken during the summer months.

For my inspiration today, I’m revisiting a layout of TJ at Myrtle Beach, SC in July of 2006.  I used the ODBD The Mighty Sea stamp set.  This set contains a beautiful image stamp plus several scripture verses and quotes.

Supplies:
K & CO. Patterned Paper
Bazzill Cardstock
ODBD The Mighty Sea Stamps
Basic Grey Gems
K & Co. Paper Ribbon
Buttons, Tags, Twine, Thread
Pebbles Chalk
Memento, Tim Holtz Distress, Colorbox Chalk and VersaFine Inks

I challenge you to play along this month.  I’d love to see your layouts.  You are not required to use ODBD stamps for this challenge, but if you do, please upload your pages to the Scrapbook Pages Category in the ODBD gallery.  If you aren't yet registered in the gallery, sign up only takes a couple of minutes.  If you do not use ODBD stamps, you can post to your blog or another publicly viewable online gallery and share the link here.

Please use the keywords ODBDGI09 (with no spaces) when uploading your layouts to public galleries and be sure and come back here and paste a link in the comment section to let us know so we can see your beautiful work!

I will be posting more layouts for this challenge during the month  (using photos from our vacation) so please stop back  by and check them out.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Blessings to you !!!

Word Art Wednesday #39

Hi Everyone!!!

I'm back from our 2 week road trip across the USA.  We drove from Virginia to California and back, stopping to see the sights along the way.  America is definitely a beautiful country and I felt myself humming this tune in my head quite frequently from the back seat of our car...

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America! God shed his grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

I'll be sharing more from our trip in future posts,  but today is Wednesday and that means...time for some Word Art!!!!  Today's word is from Colossians 3...

Chapter 3 in Paul's letter to the Colossians is all about rules for holy living. Paul tells us that the attitude of peace that Christ alone gives (in place of the attitude of bitterness and quarrelsomeness) is to rule in all human relationships. Christ gave us HIS peace, a peace that surpasses all understanding.  His peace gives us unity and oneness,  a sense of wholeness and well being.  It is a state of true harmony, not division.  His peace should rule our hearts and minds.  Let us use his peace, which he generously gave to all of us, to decide what is right when conflicts of life arise.  Just think of how much misery and strife we would avoid if we let the peace of God rule our hearts.  Christ calls us to peace, and we are to be thankful.

For my layout today,  I used an iPhone photo of me at the Grand Canyon last week.  Talk about the peace of God!!!  Standing at the rim of the Canyon,  looking out upon all of God's handiwork,  you can feel His presence.  And if you are still for a moment, and just take in all the beauty, an indescribable feeling of peace overwhelms you. And you know, without a shadow of a doubt, that this is God!

Supplies:
Me and My Big Ideas Patterned Paper
Club Scrap Cardstock
Washi Tape
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist
CTMH Ink
Stampin' Up Corner Punch
Charm - Thanks Sabrina!!
